Jr.Falcons Finish Second in Round Robin Playdowns
The Minor PeeWee A's enter the Playoff portion of the NDHL Playdowns seeded second and will face the Grimsby Kings in a semi final tomorrow morning. After going 2 and 0 on day one the Jr. Falcons played Dundas Blues to a 2-2 tie in game 3 this morning. Scoring for the Falcons were Ben Armstrong and Pierce McMeekin. An Assist was credited to Connor Burke. Ben Brendzy was steady between the pipes. The Falcons out shot the Blues 19-8.
In game 4 the Falcons got off to a great starts as Pierce McMeekin scored a top shelf goal on a perfect pass from Ben Armstrong. Adam Weber was also credited with an assist. The Jr Falcons remained in control until late in the second period when Welland scored their first goal. The second period ended with the score tied 1-1. Unfortunately from that point on Welland controlled the game and scored 5 unanswered goals in the third period to win the game 6-1. Final Shots on net were even 20-20. Adam Arsenault was steady between the pipes but wasn't given much help at times as Welland had too many odd man rushes and unblocked shots from the point.
The Jr. Falcons will get things back on track in the semi-final tomorrow morning in Fort Erie. Game time is 9:30am.
