Jr. Falcons Loose in Semi Final
The Minor PeeWee Jr. Falcons saw a 2-0 lead with just under four minutes to play slip away as they gave up 3 goals plus an empty net goal in the semi final game of the NDHL Playdowns. It was a tough loss for a team that had worked so hard and come so far from the beginning of the year.
The Jr. Falcons had a notable edge for most of the game as they outshot Grimsby 31-16. Ben Armstrong scored early in the second period to give the Jr. Falcons a 1-0 lead. Assists were awarded to line-mates Owen White and Pierce McMeekin. Myles Radersma scored the Jr. Falcon's second goal with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game. An assist was given to Owen Bartel. It looked like the Jr. Falcons would be headed to the finals.

A persistant Grimsby team dug down deep though and spoiled the season for the GCMHA boys. Scoring two goals within 40 seconds and the go ahead goal with 32 seconds remaining in the game. They added an empty net insurance marker with just 14 seconds remaining.

Ben Brendzy was solid in net and stopped 14 Grimsby shots including several that were of the difficult variety.

The coaches and players were in disbelief. However, the effort was there by everyone, as it has been all year. The Jr. Falcons hope to bounce back and be a force to  reckon with in the League Playoffs which start next week. Prior to these games the players will enjoy a Skills Competition to be held over the next two practices to be held later this week. It should be a fun event and result in some competition within the Team.
