After a win over Guelph to open the playoffs, the Minor Atom AA Falcons dropped their next two games to Burlington and Halton Hills, moving to a 1-2 record after the first three games.
Tuesday January 16th the Burlington Eagles came to St. Catharines and gave the Falcons all they could handle, leaving town with an 8-1 win. Caeden Minda scored the only Falcons goal with assists going to Alex Thai and Aidan Johnson. "Player of The Game" Anna Corfield was the lone standout for the Falcons on the night.
With a week off in between games, the Falcons hosted the Halton Hills Thunder on January 23rd. The Thunder got off to a good start and the Falcons found themselves trailing 2-0 in the first period. Alex Caiazza got them on the board in the second period on a goal assisted by Aidan Johnson and Simon Sciarra evened the score three minutes later on a goal assisted by Sebastian Hayward. With some solid goaltending from Cohen Corbett, the Falcons trailed the Thunder 3-2 until the last four minutes of the game. On some lapses in team defence by the Falcons, Halton Hills scored three goals in the last three minutes to make the game a 6-2 final.
Next up the Falcons travel to Halton Hills for a rematch January 30th.
