Game 1: 4-1 Loss to Guelph

This recap is brought to you by Gatt Wealth Management. Please visit www.gattwealth.com for more details.

Last Saturday, the Falcons traveled to Guelph to hopefully come away with 2 points. the Falcons came out playing pretty well in the first period as after the first shift of the game, the Falcons were skating pretty well with a quick Guelph team.

In the second period, Guelph would open the scoring, not before Noah flew down the wing, and followed his rebound to the net, allowing him to jam home a rebound to tie the game at 1. The Falcons would continue to battle in the second period, skating to a 1-1 tie after 2 periods.

In the third, the Falcons completely fell apart, as  the offence really dried up and the Falcons were simply out matched. Guelph would score 3 goals in the third, with the Falcons providing little push back as we skated to a 4-1 loss.

Game 2: 4-3 OTL to Halton

This recap is brought to you by Maplewood Dental. Visit www.maplewooddental.ca for more details.

Without a doubt, an extremely frustrating result to a game that the Falcons should have won. There were large portions of the game that saw the Falcons completely dominating the play, controlling the puck in the offensive zone and not allowing any chances for Halton to escape their zone. However, the Falcons didn't pay attention to details and lost 4-3 in overtime.

The Falcons came out strong, generating. good amount of scoring chances in the first period, which had the Falcons jump out to a 2-0 lead, with goals from Qasim and Brandon. However, after the 2-0 goal, the Falcons would give up a goal against seconds later to cut the lead to one.

The Falcons would continue to battle away in the second period, as Nate Dit made a strong play on the goal line to get the puck to the point for Lucas S, who scored his first goal of the season on a solid shot from the point. (with a greatly celly too).

After a mistake which lead to a goal against, the Falcons lead 3-2 heading into the third period. Halton was able to tie the game up at 3 mid way through the second. The Falcons then did ramp up the pressure, however were unable to get the go ahead goal, forcing the game to OT, where on the PP, Halton would score the game winner.

The Falcons struggled with mental mistakes tonight, such as fanning on passes, not tying up the guy in front of our net, and in the offensive zone, allowing their D to tie up our sticks instead of having them on the ice. Additionally, some soft play also factored into the Falcons turning the puck over more than we should have. However, there were portions of the game were the Falcons completely dominated the play, proving yet again that if we are focused we won't be stopped. But when we start worrying only about ourselves, we struggle as a team.
