Falcons Shower Metors
The Minor Bantam Falcon A's were on fire today as both the forwards and defence provided opportunity after opportunity generating 64 shots on net while only allowing 7 shots on their own net. As a result the Falcons defeated the Fort Erie AE Team 7-1. The pre-game talk included the need for the Falcons to use their speed to their advantage as they were going to be playing on the Olympic size ice surface in Fort Erie. What a display of speed it was. Every defenceman and all the forwards were instrumental in rushing the puck up the ice resulting in numerous scoring opportunities.

The Falcons took an early lead on a first period goal by Noah B who continued his successful return to travel hockey. Andrew L picked up the assist. Adam W then blasted a slap shot just under the crossbar for the Falcon's lone second period marker. No assists were granted on Adam's goal.

However, it was the third period when the Falcons really showed their stuff scoring 5 times on 26 shots. Robbie D started things off burying a picture perfect pass from Eric V.  Adam W potted his second of the game three minutes later with Ben A picking up the assist. Robbie D collected his second goal of the period after walking out from behind the goal line, taking a shot and then putting in his own rebound. Line mates Eric V and Owen B each picked up an assist. Eric V picked up his third assist of the period as he took a pass from defenceman Carter G who had pinched down to prevent Fort Erie from getting possession.  Eric V then sent a perfect pass of his own to Owen B who's quick release shot found the back of the net. Connor B finished off the scoring with a top shelf shot after picking up a loose puck just off the crease. Carter D picked up the lone assist on the final tally.

With about 30 seconds left in the game and with the Falcons short handed, the coaching staff put Adam W and Robbie D out to help kill the penalty and to see if perhaps one of them would complete their Hat Trick. With less than 10 seconds to go in the game Robbie created a turnover and broke up ice with Adam to his left. The Fort Erie defender trip Robbie as he went around him but Robbie still managed to sweep the puck towards the net with Adam charging in for the tip-in or deflection. Unfortunately time ran out just before Adam could put the puck in the net.

As usual Ben B was solid in net, but is looking forward to having his goaltending partner Will S return and take some of the load. Will has been sidelined for two weeks and is anxious himself to get back between the pipes.

After the game the players were treated to some birthday cake that was provided by the parents who were helping Owen B's mom celebrate a "special birthday".

Up next for the Falcons are two practices and the weekly Dryland session at Speed Unlimited as they prepare for two more league games next weekend. Friday night the Falcons travel to Welland to take on the always strong Tigers. Saturday night the Falcons will host the West Lincoln Wrath.
