Minor Bantam A's Clinch First Place in the NDHL
In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Minor Bantam 'A' Jr. Falcon's Special Teams lead the way to a 3-3 tie with the second place Welland Tigers. The single point enabled the Jr. Falcons to clinch first place in the Bantam Belcot Division of the Niagara District Hockey League.
After a scoreless  first period the Jr. Falcons Power Play went 2 for 6 with second period goals by Captain Carter D and Assistant Captain Robbie D to go up 2-0. Assists went to Noah B, Carter G, and Connor B. Meanwhile, the Penalty Kill unit killed off all 7 Welland power play opportunities.

Welland came out hard in the third period scoring 3 unanswered goals by the 4 minute mark. The Falcons managed to regroup and with 8 minutes remaining in the game Dylan R sent a long hard pass up to a breaking Ben A who crossed the Welland Blue Line and was able to get off one of his patented slap shots beating the Welland goalie top shelf.
Needing only a tie to clinch First Place the Jr. Falcons used smart forechecking to prevent several breakout attempts in the last few minutes. Welland did have a couple of opportunities in the dying seconds. However, the short handed (Colton R out with the flu) Jr. Falcons Defence were able to pressure the Welland puck carriers enough to deflect pucks or force errant passes. Any shot that did get through to goaltender Ben B was quickly smothered minimizing any rebound attempts. Ben B would end up stopping 26 of 29 shots on net.
Up next for the Jr. Falcons is the NDHL Play-Off tournament in Glanbrook next weekend where the winner will move on to represent the NDHL in the OMHA play downs.
