Early Bird Game 2- 2-1 L vs. Guelph

Click to review recap of todays game.

In a much tougher test for the Falcons, we had a hard time keeping up to the speedy Guelph team. They were able to move the puck around quite a bit generate some good scoring chances. Standing on his head today was Cohen C in goal, stopping 25/27 shots.

Scoring came in the third period when Guelph scored 2 goals against the Falcons. This seemed to spark the Falcons as we would cut their lead to one when Mitchel kept the puck in the offensive zone, and Alex C threw it to the net where Colton tapped it in for his first goal of the season. The Falcons would continue o have a strong third period, coming close on a few chances to tie the game up, however Guelph skated away with a 2-1 victory.

Positives of the Game: Throughout the game our defensive zone coverage was pretty good, as we kept the Guelph team from a bunch of high % scoring chances in the slot. The Falcons didn't quit which was good to see, as our best period of the game was the third period after a weak first couple of periods.

Things to improve upon:
Forwards- we have to start to forecheck with more aggression. We did not put pressure on Guelph when they had the puck in their own zone, therefore allowing Guelph to have time and space to breakout.

Defense- we have to stop puck watching and really focus on tying up the man in front of our net. Far too many loose puck battles we lost due to not tying up the man and focusing on the puck. If we are able to correct this then we will limit shots again.

Players of the Game: Alex T and Patrick
