Game 1: 9-2 W vs. Northumberland Nighthawks
The Falcons
came ready to play to start the tournament off on the right foot. Lead by the
red line (Colton, George, Preston) the Falcons had an aggressive forcheck all
game and were able to generate a season high 46 shots on goal. The Falcons
offensive output came mostly in the second period, as we scored 5 goals during
the period. Additionally, our defense had a very strong game moving the puck up
ice and being aggressive on the offensive blue line, which allowed us to
continually generate scoring chances throughout the period.
Player of
the Game: Colton with the hatrick and a solid game on the backcheck
Game 2: 5-2 W vs. Belleville Jr. Bulls
The Falcons
were riding high after our opening game victory as we took on the Belleville Jr
Bulls in game 2. Belleville gave the Falcons some problems in our own end, as
he were humbling the puck and not playing strong defensive hockey in the first
period. However, the Falcons got back on track and after being tied up at 1,
the Falcons would score 4 straight goals and skate away with a 5-2 victory.
Player of
the Game: Zack G with a solid offensive and defensive game
Game 3: 8-1 L vs. Eastern Ontario Cobras
In our first
game on Saturday, we lined up against the first of 2 AAA teams that we would
play. The Falcons were unable to match the play of the Cobras as they took it
to us the entire game. While we improved our play as the game went on, it was
quite clear that the shock of the AAA team lining up against us impacted our
play. Lukas would play extremely well in goal, and Aidan was one of the few
that was giving a consistent effort each shift.
Players of
the Game: Lukas and Aidan
Game 4: 5-1 L vs. Rideau St. Lawrence Kings
In our
second game of the day vs an AAA team, the Falcons were able to improve our
play a bit, as we were able to keep the Kings to the outside during the first
and second periods, only being down 2-0 after 2. However the relentless
forcheck of the Kings lead to turnovers and some sloppy play in our own end and
lead to a 5-1 loss.

Game 5: 3-0 L vs. Rideau St. Lawrence Kings
The Falcons would
then have to play the Kings again in our semi- final game on Sunday. This time
however, the Falcons came to play and despite playing an AAA team again, the
Falcons played 10 times better than in our first game vs. the Kings. As the
game went on, the Falcons got stronger and stronger and had a 0-0 third period
vs the Kings, when they could have easily gave up in the game. The coaching
staff is EXTREMELY proud of how hard the Falcons worked in this game, knowing
that it was going to take everything we have to be able to skate with the Kings.
Leading the way was Jaxon on D, who gave his best performance of the season,
while Lukas played extremely well in goal again.

the Game: Jaxon and Lukas
Overall
The Falcons
had a very good weekend, making it to the semi-finals of a tournament that
featured 3 AAA teams. We were the best AA team in the tournament and the kids
play really improved throughout the weekend. Several players had multiple points
and in multiple games, which is nice to see that the scoring is not only with 1
group of players. Additionally, the effort and play in our semi final game---
if we work that hard, listen to the coaches and are focused on being our
absolute best as we did in our semi final game, then good things will happen
when we return to league play vs. AA teams.
