This game was very interesting, as the real result of the game was 5-1, however if you look at the score above being Halton 1 and Jr Falcons -3, that is more of a description on how this game played out.
The Falcons gave up 33 shots, however the vast majority of them were from the blueline or from the wall, which shows good defensive structure not allowing high percentage scoring chances. However, 4 of the 5 goals that Halton scored were due to Jr Falcons mistakes, not by great plays made by the Thunder. We simply beat ourselves, as although we have played a lot of hockey lately, this does not excuse things like not having your stick on the ice, or using your stick at your opponents waste to slow him down, or not covering the man in front of our net.
Halton is not a 5-1 victory better than our team, nor are we as bad as we played. A lack of focus and not executing on the concepts being taught repeatedly by the coaches is what led to our downfall last night.
