Game 7: 3-0 Loss vs. Niagara Falls

In a game that the Falcons should have won, we ended up on the wrong side of the score sheet with a  3-0 Loss to the Niagara Falls Canucks. A very strong game from the Canucks goalie is what got them the victory, as despite some good scoring chances we were unable to sneak some goals past their goalie. Additionally, small mistakes lead to goals against for our team, as worst case it should have been a 0-0 tie.

A number of players stepped up in this game for the Falcons, including Preston who took home player of the game honors. Jaxon continued his hot play of late, and Mitchell had his most improved game of the season. Ovi continued to work on the small details of his game, including generating a scoring chance out of nothing and hitting the inside of the goal post. (to which I have no clue how the puck stayed out)

Game 8: 3-3 Tie vs. Oakville.

Probably our hardest working game of the season. To counter the Rangers ability to move the puck and spread out the ice, the Falcons had an aggressive forcheck in this game, which lead to all 3 goals for our team.

Down 1-0 to the Rangers, a good line hold from Mitchell kept the puck in the offensive zone, where Colton was able to grab the puck from the corner and score on a pretty bandhand shot.

The Falcons would go back and forth with the Rangers, with each team generating scoring chances. Very improved defensive play from Hensley in this game, as he limited the Rangers to either wide shots on goal or forced turnovers. Despite our good play, we trailed late in the third period 3-1. However, in what could be the TSN turning point of the season, the Falcons did not quit and continued to work hard, eventually leading to another Rangers turnover in their end from a good George forcheck, leading to Colton getting the puck and with a good LOW shot, was able to cut the lead to 3-2. The Falcons continued pressure on the Rangers, and with 15 seconds to go, Alex T and Colton’s forcheck lead to a loose puck, which Aidan was able to tie the game up with a back hand goal of his own with 15 seconds remaining!

The fact that the Falcons didn’t quit in the game was very impressive and a good step in our development.
