Game 10: 4-4 Tie vs. Burlington Blue

In a game that the Falcons yet again caused ourselves to not allow the opponent to remain in the game, the Falcons skated to a 4-4 tie in a game which would could have easily won if we did the little things correct.

The Falcons had a completely dominate first period, outshooting the Eagles 11-3, and scoring 2 goals. The Falcons completely owned the period, and were able to generate several more good quality scoring chances. However, despite the dominate period, the Falcons were unable to continue our strong play to start the second period, giving up 4 straight shots and allowing the Eagles to tie the game at 2. Being in a tied game made the Falcons start to skate again, and Colton was able to score to regain the lead at 3-2. However, once again with the lead the Falcons stopped skating and paying attention to detail, and found ourselves tied up with the Eagles.

Ovi would score his second goal of the game in the third period, after a good start to the period from the Falcons. However, once again, we gave up the lead due to a lack of focus and found ourselves tied up at 4, which is where the score would remain.

A week ago, when we came from behind to tie Oakville 3-3, the game felt like a win for the Falcons due to our hard work and our ability to continue to compete no matter the score. Last night's tie feels more like a loss, as 3 of the 4 goals against were due to not tying up the man in front of our net, with the other goal against being because no one pressured the shooter.

We have to continue to hammer home simple concepts before we can continue further on ice development. The part that for a lack of better terms, sucks, is that this group of young men are so much better than how they played on Tuesday night, and have the ability to be a really good team. We can't however simply due the things we are supposed to 50% of the time, and the other 50% due what we want to do. We have to stay focused and determined to improve, keep our feet moving and play our brand our hockey.

Improved games last night from the following players:
Chad- played the body a bit better 1v1
Caedan- engaged a bit more physically
Zach- proper skating stride & not turning the puck over
Alex T- good focus on using proper stick techniques
Hayden- moved his feet more
Preston- more compete throughout the game.
