The U15 B Falcons took their talents to Wasaga Beach this past weekend to be part of the inaugural Wasaga Warm-up Classic.

These boys came out strong on Friday and two new members of the Falcon family put their ‘firsts’ on the board right away. To open the tournament, Russell Quirt was between the pipes and posted 3-0 win against the Bruce Grey Bulls to record his first win & shutout as a Falcon. Cohen Brubacher put two of those goals in the back of the net, being the driving force for the offence in this contest.
It was a slow start in their second game on Friday, this one against the Tri-Centre Attack. After an uneven first period, Theo Marshall got his first Falcons goal early in the second to put us on the board. Two goals by Mr. James Riley Jr shortly there after and the boys never looked back. 6-0 would be the final score and an undefeated Friday was in the books.
Saturday was a tougher test as they took the ice against the Bancroft Jets. In a back-and-forth contest, Jacob Radu was in mid-season “I hate to loose” form filling the net twice to keep our undefeated tournament intact. While coming away with a 3-3 tie put Sunday Hockey in our future, this was not a group that was happy with just being undefeated.
Sunday Hockey, the reason you leave your house at 7am on a Friday, was a sight to be scene. The home town Wasaga Stars awaited us in the semi final and well, challenge issued, challenge accepted. With a 1-0 lead, Atticus Humble poked a neutral zone face-off forwards, bumped and grinded his way down the ice to put a short-handed goal in the net and opened the doors for what would become an 8-2 Falcons W, putting us in the Finial.
The finial would be a rematch against the Tri-Centre Attack but, unlike their previous meeting, a slow start for these boys was not an issue. Off the face-off to start our first power play, Eric Pemberton let a booming shot fly from the point that found the back of the net to put us on the board and then it was time for another first. Mason Van Schyndel pounded one by the goalie for his first Falcons’ goal, quickly followed it up with his second and the team was off running to a 7-1 victory and earned the right to be called Champions

The Stats from the weekend…
4-0-1 record, 33-6 GF-GA for a +27 Goal differential.
Every player put points on the board, 11 different skaters scored a goal, both goalies posted a Shutout.
Left the house at 7am on Friday, stayed up way too late each night, got home 9pm on Sunday…
…With a Championship Medal around our necks.
Let’s Falcon go boys!
