It’s finally time!! Charlie’s cutting his hair!!
and raising money for the Rankin Cancer Run!

When Charlie was only 5 years old his dad was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Charlie’s positive and naive spirit helped the family through a very difficult time. At the time, he didn’t quite understand Cancer and what it was doing to his dad. However, the following year, while his dad was recovering, both his Babcia (Grandma) and Cocia (Aunt) we’re diagnosed with cancer. A few months later his Babcia passed away. All 3 family members lost their hair during their battle with Cancer. Charlie decided he could help others by donating his “Red” hair to make a wig for someone who lost their hair due to chemotherapy. An organization called Wigs for Kids does just that! Carlo Turavani at Transitions Studio (www.transitions.ca) will be cutting Charlie’s hair after the Rankin Cancer Run. Charlie will be running with his dad, Peter, a firefighter in St Catharines and a cancer survivor, his mom, Honee, a teacher at Denis Morris Catholic High School, and his two older brothers, Jacob & Max, along with many family and friends. We are “REDS for Rankin”If you would like to support Charlie and his adventure please run/walk with us on May 25 at 10am at the Rankin Cancer Run or donate to his cause...the link for Charlie on the “REDS for Rankin” team is here

All proceeds from the Rankin Cancer Run go directly to cancer support in the Niagara Region, including many who do the facilities Charlie’s family used during his dad’s fight with cancer and during his recovery. The staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre were amazing and the programs at Wellspring Niagara helped with so many of the challenges that cam our way. Thank you to everyone who helped us with our challenge and god bless all the angels helping others now. Cancer is a very scary word but with the support from family and friends and community programs we can face it by standing a little taller and fighting back a little harder.

We hope to see you at the Rankin Cancer Run!

And we will definitely post pictures of Charlie’s new “do” after it is cut on May 29

Here is one last look before it is all cut off...
