Click for a recap for the weekend's games

Game 7... 3-2 Loss vs. Welland
Despite a solid effort, the Warriors fell short in a hard fought game, losing 3-2. After trading goals with Welland throughout the game, we were unable to tie the game up late as we were not able to close late.

Positives from the Game: Our effort level was through the roof, as we did play hard in all three periods. Pretty solid backchecking from the forwards, and our defense did a solid job holding the blue line in the offensive zone.

Things to improve on: Coverage in front of our goal, as we allowed a lot of shots from the slot, especially in the third period when the game was on the line.

Game 8... 4-3 Loss vs. Niagara Falls
After a good two periods of hard defensive play, only allowing 7 shots on goal (3 in the first and 4 in the second),the Warriors once again fell apart in the third period, losing 4-3 to the Falls.

Positives from the Game: Excellent effort from a number of players, including several puck battle wins in the first two periods. Very nice in the 1st and 2nd to see our players keep the Flyers to the outside, and allow very few shots. Very nice to see some players (Robbie, Gino, Cam, Noah C) that were given individual assignments to improve on step up and work hard to adjust some areas of their games.

Things to improve on: Obviously, not falling apart in the third period and give up 16 shots on goal. Most importantly, we need to tie up the man when the opposing team is attacking us. In a 2 vs. 2 situation, the player who is on the same side as the puck carrier needs to shadow the puck carrier, keeping a tight GAP and forcing a bad angle shot, while the other player needs to tie up the man crashing the net, with the first backchecker either taking the next guy in or clearing any loose pucks.

Stats:

Eric 1G
Pierce 1G
Jaden 1A

Pita Pit Player of the Game: Morgan (for excellent backchecking which led to not only two goals but to a lot of offensive pressure)
