Falcons Soar over West Lincoln; Fall to Pelham
The Garden City Novice A Falcons split their games over the past weekend, dropping an 8-0 decision against Pelham on Saturday but soaring over West Lincoln 6-2 in an impressive Friday night performance.
Ben Grohnwald was all over the ice on Friday, notching an incredible hat trick in an impressive display. Sam Evangelista struck for two goals of his own and Charlie Barnowski, with his first goal of the campaign, notched the other goal for the Falcons.
Garnering assists in the game were Michael Magnotta (2), Dante DiFranco (2), Evan Bosela, Sam Evangelista, Rhys McAdam, Malik Moore, Charlie Barnowski and Chase Dayaram.
The team showed great resiliency in the contest, as they were given five penalties to the home team's zero, much to the consternation of the Falcons parents and coaching staff! The Falcons outshot the Wrath 19-11 overall.
Quinton Burkley stopped 24 shots over the two games on the weekend, as the Falcons were outshot by a wide 23-8 margin on Saturday against the still undefeated Pelham Panthers.
The Falcons (2-6-0, 4 pts, T8th) are back in action tomorrow night at home, as they welcome the league-leading Grimsby Kings (6-0-1, 13 pts, 1st) to the Seymour-Hannah Entertainment Complex. The Kings lead the league in points, goals scored AND have also allowed the least amount of goals so this will be a very stern test. Game time is 5:55pm at SH4.
