Falcons Thrill in Regular Season Finale
The St. Catharines Novice A Falcons overcame three deficits on their way to a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over the West Lincoln Wrath in their regular season finale on January 27th.
Rhys McAdam finished the comeback with a sensational unassisted effort with five minutes remaining in the contest and the Falcons would hold on the rest of the way in front of goaltender Quinton Burkley, who stood tall all evening in the nets.
Also scoring in the thrilling win were Sam Evangelista, Charlie Barnowski and Ben Grohnwald, with assists going to Chris Crowe, Grohnwald (2) and Zach Engelen.
Following the win, the Falcons battled hard in the OMHA qualifiers, which were held in Grimsby last weekend, facing off against some of the top ranked teams in the league in Grimsby, Welland and Glanbrook along with a competitive game against Niagara Falls. Sam Evangelista and Charlie Barnowski scored goals against the Falls in the OMHA's, with Evan Bosela and Chris Crowe picking up assists.
The kids gave it their all throughout the two day event and begin preparations for the District Playoffs, which begin on Sunday with a contest in Fort Erie. Game time at the Leisureplex is set for high noon!
