It was fast-paced action at Meridian Centre on Jan. 4 as Midget AA Falcons hosted Vänersborgs HC in an international Friendly Exhibition Game.
GCMHA’s own Mickey Clair escorted Falcons’ sponsors Derek & Deena Beauchamp of DLB Electric to centre ice for the ceremonial face-off before both countries’ national anthems were observed.
After players from both teams exchanged gifts, the official face-off took place.
What followed was 60 minutes of fast-paced, close-checking, exciting hockey. While the Falcons represented Canada well, it was the visitors who emerged victorious with a 4-2 win.
After the game, the teams had dinner together and took in exciting OHL action, watching Niagara IceDogs outpace Kitchener Rangers with a thrilling 6-5 overtime win.
