Falcons Fly High at Pickering AA Tourney
The Minor PeeWee AA Falcons experienced a highly successful tournament this past weekend in Pickering ON.  The Falcons entered the home of the Panthers with one goal in mind.....get to the championship and take a run at winning it.

The Falcons started the journey in their pool play finishing only 2nd to the home Panthers of Pickering.  Considering the fact that the Falcons lost a tight battle in pool play by a score of 3-2 to the Panthers, a potential final with Pickering would be a battle.

Rounding out the pool play, the Falcons beat North Toronto, Upper Ottawa Valley Aces and home loop rivals Stoney Creek.  Finishing second pitted the Falcons in a back to back battle with Stoney Creek that would not disappoint. Stoney Creek brought the battle to the Falcons and the match ended dramatically with a tie decided by an 8 round shootout.  This hard fought win set up the much anticipated final vs. the hometown Pickering Panthers.

The Falcons and the Panthers played a chess match throughout the final with the Falcons tying up the game in the final 52 seconds of regular time.  It took triple overtime and many chances by the Falcons to find a winner.  The Panthers ended up victorious however both teams coaching staffs were in agreement that the stalemate provided much entertainment for the hometown crowd.  Both teams were worthy finalists and the game could have gone either way.  After a busy week prior to the tourney and 6 games through the weekend, the Falcons look forward to some much needed rest and training prior to an exciting home tilt vs. Oakville next weekend.
