Minor Bantam A, Bantam, 2017-2018, AA/A (Garden City Minor Hockey)

In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Minor Bantam 'A' Jr. Falcon's Special Teams lead the way to a 3-3 tie with the second place Welland Tigers. The single point enabled the Jr. Falcons to clinch first place in the Bantam Belcot Division of the Niagara District Hockey League. After a scoreless  first period the Jr. Falcons Power Play went 2 for 6 with second period goals by Captain Carter D and Assistant Captain Robbie D to go up 2-0. Assists went to Noah B, Carter G, and Connor B. Meanwhile, the Penalty Kill unit killed off all 7 Welland power play opportunities.

The GCMHA Minor Bantam 'A' Falcon lead by strong goaltending by B Brendzy and Will S and strong defence went 10-1-2 in NDHA League play in the months of November and December and finished 2017 in first place overall in the Niagara District Hockey League. 

The Regular Season scoring stats for the first month 2017/18 season confirm the Minor Bantam A Jr. Falcons have a balanced attack. After the first 9 league games Eric V leads all scorers with 11 points including 2 goals and 9 assists.  Noah B, Robbie D and Ben A are close behind with 10 points each. Adam Weber leads all goal scorers with 8. Goaltender Ben B has victories in all 6 of his starts while maintaining a 1.83 goals against average. Goaltender Will S has 3 victories in 4 starts and has a 3.00 GAA. For the details scoring stats see below.      

Since the last writeup the Falcon Minor Bantam A's have won five of six games. The Falcons started the 6 game set with a 7-2 home ice victory over the always hard working West Lincoln Wrath. That was followed by a 6-2 win over cross-town rivals Merritton AE Bulldogs. The Falcons then suffered their first loss of the regular season, a 5-2 set back to a much improved Niagara Falls Flyers team. The Falcons then knocked off Dunnville Mud Cats 4-3, Grimsby Kings 3-2, and Glanbrook AE's 9-1. The GCMHA Minor Bantam A Team headed down the 406 tonight to take on arch rival Welland Tigers. The Falcons got off to a quick start as Owen B fired a quick release shot after receiving an excellent pass from Eric V. After Welland scored two quick goals at the end of the first period the Falcons lost their focus for a short period of time allowing Welland to score two more goals taking a 4-1 lead by the half way mark of the second period.
