Regular Season Game 1 vs. Burlington Blue
click to review recap of game

The Falcons came out to play on Saturday afternoon, having a strong first period where we had a pretty decent forecheck going. The Falcons were able to generate a fair amount of scoring chances in the first, and were able to jump to a 1-0 lead after Hensley unleashed a shot from the point, and due to a great screen in front by Zach, the puck beat the goalie.

The second period had the Falcons have some difficulties in the defensive zone, where we were scrambling a bit to get the puck out. A reminder that we can't simply throw the puck away is of extreme importance as we move forward. The Blue Eagles were able to tie the game at 1 in the second, after our issues tying up the man in front of the net continued.

The Falcons and Blue Eagles battled hard in the third period, as each team generated a few good scoring chances. Lukas G kept us in the game, making some big saves not only in the third but throughout the game. The Falcons were able to take the lead for good when a strong forecheck from Preston allowed him to get the puck and put it to the front of the net, where Colton was able to shake off a Blue Eagles defender and tap in the loose puck for the led. The Falcons continued to generate scoring chances and played extremely well in the third, including killing off a penalty with 2 minutes left in the game.

Very big thanks you's are in order for 2 players today.
1. Hayden- he missed a shift late in the 3rd period due to the penalty kill and Hayden simply smiled and didn't complain about it. That is a sign of being a great teammate.
2. Preston- due to the too many men on the ice penalty, we needed a player to serve the team penalty. Preston did this for us and like Hayden, showed great respect to his team and did this while not complaining.
These two examples are very important as they highlight that the TEAM comes first, not individual success.

Player of the Game: Lukas G, making 21 saves in the victory, including several big saves late.

Stats
Colton 1 Goal (Game Winning Goal)
Hensley 1 Goal
Preston 1 Assist
