A strong Guelph team came to play tonight, as they really battled hard and showed how using their speed and moving the puck can keep a team on their heels for the majority of the game.
After a back and forth first period, where the Falcons battled hard and were able to get some chances, the lack of crashing the net for the rebound hurt us, as there were 2 times were a good net crash would have lead to a goal or two in the first period. We remained tied at 0 through the first period. In the second period, the Falcons were unable to get going, as the Guelph team was able to generate a lot of scoring chances. Lucas played extremely well in goal tonight, which kept us in the game through 2 periods.
In the third period, the game opened up a bit with Dom having a few scoring chances by using his speed and getting some good chances on net. Guelph opened up the scoring, sneaking one in mid way through the third. The Falcons were able to recover, when Sacha made a good defensive play to start the breakout. After a give and go between Nate Dit and Lukas T, Nate was able to feed Lukas with a nice saucer pass, as Lukas was able to snipe one home.
We would get the lead mid way though the third period, when Sacha made a strong play in the neutral zone on the penalty kill, to break down the ice and SNIPE ONE HOME! However, we were unable to hold the lead late, as Guelph was able to score on the power play after a questionable call. Lucas made a few big saves late, as the Falcons skated to a 2-2 tie.
Grit Grinder of the Game: Ollie (who had a strong game on D tonight, as he battled hard and was able to improve on the areas in his game that the coaches have asked for)
