The Falcons came out slow, relying on Lucas C in goal a few too many times early, who made some big saves. Once the Falcons started moving our feet in the first period, we were able to generate a few power plays as Burlington couldn't keep up with our speed. The Falcons would score on the power play, giving us a 1-0 lead after the first period.
The Falcons would really step up our play in the second period, as we began to play similar to how we did vs. Oakville, by being extremely strong on the forecheck. After a scramble in front of the Burlington net, Lukas T was able to tap in a goal to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Burlington came out strong in the third period, as they were able to score a goal due to the Falcons feet slowing down. However, the Falcons re-group, and Nathan DiP would score his second goal of the game after he followed his shot to the net, which allowed him to tap in the rebound. Sacha would then score an empty net goal, followed by a crazy bouncing puck goal by Evan to give the Falcons a 5-1 victory, proving once again that if we are working hard and being aggressive, we are able to compete withe everyone.
The physical play of the Falcons was something to take note of tonight, as once Burlington began to push in the third period, the Falcons pushed back. We have to remember to make sure to not take penalties, but continue to play physical.
