A very strong start for the Falcons had us outshooting the Burlington Blue team 10-0 after the first period, where we completely controlled the game. Evan was able to open the scoring late in the first period, as he scored a nice goal off the rush, the squeaked past the Burlington Blue goalie. After a very good penalty kill to start the second period, then Falcons were unable to get offence going in the second period, as then we were outshot 8-0. T
The Falcons controlled the third period, generating several scoring chances. We did have a few small breakdowns, but Jackie played well in goal and held the fort for us. Burlington Blue was able to tie the game up late in the 3rd period, as we didn't execute a good defensive zone face-off coverage.
As we went into the overtime period, we were able to get two power play chances. After not scoring on the first power play, we did not execute a good power play breakout, and when we turned the puck over, and did not did pressure either Burlington player, which lead to a goal against, and a 2-1 victory for Burlington Blue.
A weak second period and not pressuring the puck carrier in overtime lead to a 2-1 Loss. We actually did play well tonight, however a few breakdowns lead to the result on the scoreboard.
Grit Grinder of the Game: Dom- who had his harding work game of the season, while playing a new position to boot.
